A very large, high-growth supplier of IT development and maintenance, service delivery, and outsourcing products and services, needed long-term strategic as well as tactical support for creating, deploying, and improving their process and quality management activities, to support long-term company growth objectives. They also desired mechanisms to differentiate the company from competitors.

ISD Solution

ISD developed an integrated improvement program with the client that included a set of Consulting, Training, Appraisals, and Tools. The client chose CMMI as their best practices framework. ISD worked with the client to advise them on how to create and standardize high maturity practices within their overarching global process standards, particularly for a diverse set of contracts that ranged from full development, to service delivery, to major outsourcing programs.

ISD proposed an integrated improvement program, including a set of interim evaluation appraisals leading to formal Benchmarks using our Appraisal Wizard tool suite and a Certified Lead Appraiser and Consultant. Tasks included a set of Consulting, Training, Appraisals, and Tools.

Outcome

ISD successfully led the organizational business unit through very high growth. The company process and quality management approach are a testament to the way CMMI can be used strategically to support company goals. They worked with ISD through several iterations of CMMI versions, transitioning them to high maturity ML4 for Development, Services, and Supplier Management domains for several benchmarking cycles. They still use resources, methods, and systems for organizational improvement that were originally recommended by ISD consultants. Their CMMI ML4 Benchmarking success has been validated by their Performance Report metrics improvement and their continued operational growth in line with Senior Leadership business goals. ISD has worked with the client for 25 years.
